The American Locomotive Company delivered the five locomotives of class K-4-a to the Grand Trunk Western in 1924. They had 73-inch drivers, 25x28-inch cylinders and a boiler pressure of 200 pounds per square inch. Their locomotive weight was 285,500 pounds, and they delivered about 41,000 pounds of tractive effort. In this view No. 5627, first locomotive in the K-4 series, pauses at Durand before crossing the Chicago-Port Huron main line to bring Muskegon-Detroit train No. 56 into the Durand depot. This image comes from July 1954.
