The highest-numbered Hudson on the New York Central System was class J2c No. 5474, after renumbering from Boston & Albany No. 619. William D. Volkmer captured her taking on coal at the Chatham, New York servicing facilities on May 30, 1951. This locomotive does not appear to be one of the J2s equipped, at that time, with the twelve-wheel tender, but perhaps she received one during her remaining two years of operation before being torched late in 1953. Additional photos of the J2s reassigned to the New York Central proper, with their final numbers, may be viewed on George Elwood's New York Central Steam Photos site.
